Near Perfect: 2019 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Limited Review

Utility within Pacifica‘s interior is also quite good, with the only real compromise being the loss of Chrysler’s corporate Stow’n’Go seat folding technology in the second row. The third row still folds flat quickly and easily, but the Hybrid model’s second-row captain’s chairs don’t fold completely flat due to the battery packs living directly below. 32.3 cubic feet of cargo space is usable behind the third row, and with it folded in, this expands to 98.5 behind the second row.

As part of the first generation Pacifica launched in 2017, the Pacifica Hybrid hasn’t yet reached the mid-way point in its life cycle, so the changes have been kept to a minimum for 2019. Some minor equipment updates affect all Pacifica’s including the Hybrid, with the S Appearance package now available across the range. Two new paint colors have been added as well, Maximum Steel and Luxury White, and there are more optional extras available on lower trim lines. The base Touring Plus gets a standard auto-dimming rearview mirror, Touring L models get a heated steering wheel, while range-topping Hybrid Limited models get 17-inch wheels and memory functions for the seats, stereo, and mirrors.

Both the Pacifica and the Highlander Hybrid have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height-adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available crash mitigating brakes, lane departure warning systems and around view monitors.

All Pacifica hybrid models feature similar styling to their non-hybrid counterparts, save for the hybrid badging. Standard design elements include low beam 9007 led headlight bulbs, LED daytime running lamps, and LED taillights. 17-inch polished aluminum wheels are standard on the Touring Plus and Touring L trims, while the range-topping Limited features 17-inch alloys in a different design with 18-inch wheels optionally available on the Limited only. Chrome detailing and chrome roof rails are standard on the upper two trims, while only the Limited receives chrome side mirrors. The Limited also has the option of a tri-pane Panoramic sunroof. The available S Appearance Package adds Black Noise finish accents and unique 18-inch wheels.

The Chrysler Pacifica and Pacifica Hybrid continue to revolutionize the minivan segment by delivering unprecedented levels of functionality, versatility, technology, safety, and bold styling. Now, Chrysler is counting on the new changes for the 2020 model year to help boost the Pacifica and Pacifica Hybrid sales. Hopefully, by adding more standard features and content to its packages, will increase the nameplates value.

It’s a solid new entry in the minivan segment, but what makes it a true standout is the plug-in hybrid. It gives the Pacifica an all-electric range of 33 miles and an EPA-estimated 84 MPGe, which makes it a money-saver on family road trips. Total combined gas and electric range is 566 miles, so you’ll be stopping for bathroom breaks long before you need to stop to refuel.
